In July, Miriam joined a #a11yTO seminar to learn how to improve the accessibility of our digital world. Along the way she learned about the Digital Accessibility Maturity Model, The Little Engine That Could, Equality vs. Equity vs Liberation, and much more.
2019 was a very special year with significant changes to the way the Hall operates. With 5 total inductees and 2 new ways to enter the Hall, it was understandably an electric atmosphere. It was amazing to see all the positivity in the community and all the energy around each nominee.
There is a wide variety of camp administrators. Part time, full time, multiple location, and admins who are directors, facilities managers, and food service directors (the ones who do it all). To recognize a more diverse group of administrators, we are introducing two new ways to be inducted into the Camp Admin Hall of Fame.
With the holidays right around the corner, many of our staff will be taking some well-earned time off this December. We will always have enough people in the office to support you during the holidays, but there will be a few adjustments to our regular support hours.
The Women in Camp Summit is a conference by women, for women, that covers a diverse set of topics in the camping industry, with a focus on visibility, voices, and vision. It is the first of its kind and was held this year from November 7th to 9th at Pheasant Run Resort in Illinois.
In 2008, CampBrain moved into our office at 366 Adelaide Street East in Toronto – we had spent the last 6 years in a smaller, less central location. We were a team of around 15 people. We were entirely on the “desktop” version of CampBrain and growing.
On October 27, 2008, Josh Bradshaw joined CampBrain in our technical support team. He came from a strong camp tradition via Camp Wenonah. We had just moved to our new, bigger offices and we were busy. We had been consistently growing, with our software (desktop, at the time) having everything needed to run a camp.
It goes by so fast. Another BRAINSTORM in the books. It’s amazing how you work so hard for so long, planning every detail, ensuring that everything is taken care of, and just like that, it’s done. BRAINSTORM is truly an “all hands on deck” event with every single person at CampBrain contributing in one way or another…and it is truly a labour of love. For us, BRAINSTORM is one of those events where you cherish every second. It is the highlight of the CampBrain calendar.
BRAINSTORM, our annual user conference, is going into its fourth year. It starts on Wednesday October 10th, and ends Friday October 12th. During the conference, we will have some periods where support hours will be affected, as we have fewer or no support available for phone/email support. However, we will always be monitoring our emergency email as usual.
