5 Year Workiversary

2015 was a critical year for CampBrain. We hosted BRAINSTORM, our user conference, for the very first time. We released a new Staff hiring and management system on web. But most importantly, we hired five incredible Brainers that have all made lasting impacts on CampBrain.

Alison, Wakako, Dan, Emily and Rob have all reached their 5year anniversaries at CampBrain. Over the last couple months, we honoured each in our company “huddles” with backstories, accomplishments, fun tidbits, and insights into what makes them tick. Here are some of the notes from those huddles on each of these valued Brainers and a few of their contributions to CampBrain:

Alison Sexton

Alison is a member of our Product team. Since joining the team, she has made a remarkable, lasting impact on CampBrain. She has been an important and significant contributor to many hugely impactful features such as the Conference Center module, Health Center module, and Camp Store.

On our internal survey, we ask a yes or no question – “Do you feel your coworkers care about their work?”. Alison is the epitome of the answer “yes”. She cares deeply about the work she is doing, and knows it will have a profound effect. It is a marvelous feeling to work with someone like Alison.

Alison is not only an fantastic coworker, but she is thoughtful, competent, honest, thorough, empathetic, and has good instincts and good judgment. Alison is a genuinely good person, and we are proud to have her on our team.

Wakako

Wakako has had a wonderful 5 years at CampBrain. When her family moved from Calgary to Toronto, Wakako was looking for flexible work hours, and we were looking for someone to assist our admin team on a part time basis. It was a match made in heaven, but at the time we didn’t realize how lucky we were to have Wakako join the team.

Wakako is reliable. Over the years, Wakako’s role continued to grow as we had more tasks added to her to-do list; from conference travel bookings, to all of our new sales admin, to learning Adobe InDesign, to being our own “Festisanta. It eventually become clear that we needed her full time, and it was something that she was happy to do.

It is a pleasure to work with someone like Wakako, who is reliable, flexible, but also just a fun and funny person to be around. We are proud to have Wakako on our team and we look forward to continuing our journey with her.

Dan Sadler

Ever since Dan joined our team five years ago, he has been a joy to be around. If you ever are in need of a good laugh and fun time, Dan is who you should find. Dan is someone you can always count on to brighten a room with his welcoming persona and sense of humor.

Not only is Dan a pleasure to be around, but he is also an dedicated and driven coworker. Starting in our technical support team, Dan has now settled into our Development team where his talents really shine. He is a confident problem solver who tackles problems head on, and won’t stop until its complete. Dan has the drive to be the best that he can be. It is a wonderful sight to see, and a pleasure to work with someone like Dan.

Thank you Dan, for always making work a fun and enjoyable place to be!

Emily Peebles

Emily joined us in 2015, and since then she has had quite the journey at CampBrain. Emily has almost been in every department on our Operations team. She started in Tech Support, then spent a few seasons in Implementations, transferred to Client Success, ultimately landing in her current role as Implementations Lead.

The contributions and impact that Emily has made over her past five-years are incredible. Her drive, commitment, innovation and leadership have resulted in successful teams, projects and relationships across the company.

Emily is just a wonderful human-being! She is funny, genuine and builds meaningful relationships with not only our clients, but of course, all of us who spend time with her. Emily is someone who embodies the CampBrain spirit, and we are proud to have her be a part of the CampBrain team!

Rob Marsden

Rob actually joined our team on the same day as Emily back in 2015. Before that, he had spent some delightful years at Camp Robin Hood learning the ins and outs of the camping industry. Today, you’ll find Rob as our Tech Support Lead, chatting with clients on the phone, and assisting other Tech Support members with challenging problems.

Rob is truly a jack of all trades. His nickname around the office is Useful Rob, because there really is nothing he cannot do! He has incredible determination and patience.

Rob is also a wonderful teacher. He is the best kind of teacher – patient, thoughtful, detailed, and challenging. He genuinely wants everyone he works with to be able to do what he can do, and cares about seeing everyone succeed.

These are a few of the many reasons why we are proud of and enjoy having Rob apart of the CampBrain team for years to come!

Please join me and the rest of the CampBrain team as we wish these Brainers a happy 5 year workiversary!
